Sunshine Studios is a community studio, open to artists of all ages, experiences and abilities. On weekdays, Sunshine Studios offers art by local painters, photographers, jewelry-makers and others, and it employs more than a dozen men and women with developmental disabilities who work in textiles, clay and other art.
Throughout the week, including Saturdays, the studio offers art classes and studio space for artists of all experiences – or no experience at all.
The studio opened in 2014 and is owned and operated by Sunshine Communities, a Maumee-based nonprofit that since 1950 has supported people with developmental disabilities. The studio’s opening was funded, in part, by a $200,000 federal Community Development Block Grant.
